La dolorosa realidad del Akita /The painful truth about the Akita

 ¿Que es lo que ha sucedido con el Akita en estos últimos 22 años?

 ¿Por qué las desviaciones del estándar se han convertido en lo habitual desplazando a los escasos,muy escasos ejemplares que se ciñen a él? ¿ Que ha pasado con el tipo, con la apariencia general?

¿Donde están los ejemplares rojos  y  sèsamo?¿Que ha pasado con los Atigrados ?

¿Por qué ya no hay frentes ni cabezas como en los 90 y principios del 2000? ¿ Donde han ido la talla el hueso , la masa muscular característicos de Akita?¿Que han hecho los criadores?

¿Por qué son tan escasos aquellos que intentan preservar la raza ciñéndose al estándar y sin embargo hay tantos "innovadores"?

¿Se puede reconducir está trágica situación?

¿Han estado los jueces a la altura? ¿Lo están ahora?

En mi opinión, hacerse estas preguntas (y muchas más ) y es fundamental para recuperar el Akita, porque esto es lo que hay que hacer en este momento.:Recuperar el Akita , redescubrirlo, ser conscientes de que la situación es trágica desde hace años y, aunque parezca catastrofista, se camina hacia la extinción de una raza desde hace más de 20 años, estando ahora en un punto casi sin retorno.

Adjunto unos vídeos realizados por Beverly Vics,( en mi opinión una de las dos mejores jueces de Akita que existe junto a Sophia Kaluzniacky) para comprender el estándar. Pienso que es el mejor trabajo con apoyo visual que se ha hecho sobre el Akita y, aunque muchos ya lo conocerán, también hay otros tantos que lo desconocen y les ayudarán a comprender con objetividad cual es la situación actual de la raza

Poco a poco, con el paso de los días y quizá de meses iré respondiendo a estas preguntas, preguntas que me hice a mí mismo en los años 2002 y 2003, cuando se veía venir claramente lo que iba a suceder , aunque he de reconocer que no pensé que la situación llegase a ser tan mala.No me sorprende la gravedad en España ni en  Europa, tampoco  lo que sucede  en los países del Este y Rusia. Pero si que me ha sorprendido en USA donde pensé que habría una reacción a partir del  año 2009 ,al igual que pensé que la habría en Uk. Me equivoqué , no hubo reacción y es doloroso ver el resultado, muy doloroso.

What has happened to the Akita in the last 22 years?

Why have deviations from the standard become the norm, displacing the few, very few specimens that conform to it? What has happened to the type, to the general appearance?

Where are the red and sesame specimens? What has happened to the brindles?

Why are there no more foreheads and heads like in the 90s and early 2000s? Where have the size, bone, and muscle mass characteristic of the Akita gone? What have the breeders done?

Why are there so few who try to preserve the breed by adhering to the standard, yet there are so many "innovators"?

Can this tragic situation be reversed?

Have the judges been up to the task? Are they now?

 In my opinion, asking these questions (and many more) is essential to recover the Akita, because this is what needs to be done at this time: Recover the Akita, rediscover it, be aware that the situation has been tragic for years and, although it may seem catastrophic, we have been heading towards the extinction of a breed for more than 20 years, being now at a point of almost no return.

I am attaching some videos made by Beverly Vics, (in my opinion one of the two best Akita judges that exist along with Sophia Kaluzniacky) to understand the standard. I think it is the best work with visual support that has been done on the Akita and, although many will already know it, there are also many others who do not know it and it will help you understand objectively what the current situation of the breed is.

Little by little, as the days and perhaps months go by, I will answer these questions, questions that I asked myself in 2002 and 2003, when it was clear what was going to happen, although I must admit that I did not think that the situation would become so bad. I am not surprised by the seriousness of the situation in Spain or in Europe, nor by what is happening in the Eastern countries and Russia. But I have been surprised in the USA, where I thought that there would be a reaction starting in 2009, just as I thought there would be one in the UK. I was wrong, there was no reaction and it is painful to see the result, very painful.
